Lucie McCoy
Lucie qualified with an MSc in Occupational Therapy in January 2020 and has gone on to complete post-graduate training to become a Sensory Integration Practitioner. She has gained accreditation in Cognitive Rehabilitation and Advanced Cognitive Rehabilitation and is a qualified Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Teacher.
Since joining Creative OT, Lucie has worked in neurological rehabilitation units and in the community, building a combined caseload of children and adults with acquired brain injuries and sensory processing needs across the North West. Her work in a neurological rehabilitation unit included implementing a new OT service and overseeing the provision of rehabilitation assistants.
Lucie also has a degree in Communication Studies which led to 6 years in digital marketing prior to retraining. Transferable skills including team leadership, building relationships, and growing an online presence have supported the growth of Creative OT’s brain injury offering.
My dad had a life-changing stroke in 2015 and I quickly realised that a job in marketing was not my life’s purpose. I had to become an OT without really knowing what one was, but I saw first-hand how imperative the holistic nature of occupational therapy was to rebuilding someone’s life. I love my job because not only does it help provide people with purpose and engage them in the things that define their identity, I work in a team of like-minded OTs who are highly knowledgeable and supportive. No two days are the same and I come home knowing that I’ve changed the lives of the clients I work with.
