Hollie Rawson
Hollie qualified with an MSc in Occupational Therapy in 2013 and is a Sensory Integration Practitioner. She also holds a degree in psychology.
Prior to Creative OT, Hollie worked for a private healthcare provider, progressing to Head Occupational Therapist — working directly with patients and overseeing OT provision across three units covering mental health, brain injury, learning disability, complex neurodiversity and sensory processing. Her role included supervising other OTs, service development, and extensive multidisciplinary working.
Before qualifying as an OT, Hollie worked in special education, family support, as a teaching assistant and in a research capacity. She was part of the team that devised the original Engagement Model for special education curriculum and children with complex learning difficulties and disabilities.
I came to occupational therapy after completing some basic sensory training delivered by an OT at a school I worked at and thought it was incredible. I realised this was a way to draw on my experience from psychology and learning disability and help people achieve their goals in a more proactive way. I love that being an OT no two days are the same — one day I can be helping someone with their posture so they can stand to shower, and another day supporting someone with confidence to go to a local café or get their eyebrows done!
